10 Reason Your Online Dating Profile Sucks!
Let’s face it, dating sucks. Trying to meet someone can be a daunting task as many of us simply do not have the time to devote to going out and finding someone to be with. This is just one of the many reasons that online dating has become so popular. Using internet dating sites offers a quick way to meet people who share common interests with you. However, online dating can be just as tricky and if you do not take the time to create a good profile, chances are you are not meeting anyone at all. Here are a few tips for creating an online dating profile that doesn’t suck.
1. Bad Photos
The photo that you use is extremely important. You should use a current photo of yourself where you look normal. Do not just post a selfie of you in the bathroom making some type of “sexy” face. If you truly want to go all out with your profile consider having some professional photos taken.
2. Empty Profile
You need to take the time to actually fill out your profile. Writing something like I hate filling these out or that you will fill it out later is not going to get you anywhere in the online dating world. Take the time to answer some questions about yourself.
3. You Wrote About what you are Looking for and nothing about yourself
Another common mistake that people make is they write about what they expect out of a date, but fail to mention anything about themselves. Make sure that your profile states your interests, dislikes, etc.
4. Using Negative Language
No one wants to hear about your past relationship or how much you hate cheaters, liars, drama, etc. Make sure that your profile uses positive language.
5. Using Lists
Do not simply list things that you enjoy. For example, I like travelling, jewelry, Stephen King books, and sports. Lists are not relatable. Instead describe a trip that you went on and describe what you loved about it. You could also describe your favorite book and why you enjoyed it. Tell a story about yourself as this is more relatable.
6. Your Profile is Boring
If you repeat things over and over again in your profile anyone looking at it will become bored and move on. Make sure to keep things interesting.
There is no need to discuss sex in your profile.
8. Be Honest
Honesty is truly the best policy when it comes to online dating. If you are struggling to get dates, ask your friends to check out your profile for you and be brutally honest about who you really are.
9. Create a Call to Action
Take a tip from the marketing team and create a call to action on your dating profile. It can be as simple as, if you like what you see or think we might have fun hanging out, give me a call or send me a message.
10. Make sure you are Ready
Finally, make sure that you are really ready to start dating. If you recently broke up with someone or are not sure what you are looking for in a relationship take some time before entering the online dating scene.
